What is a Silent System?
A silent piano is an acoustic piano with an option to silence the strings by stopping the hammers from striking them. A silent piano is designed for private silent practice by using headphones without disturbing the your housemates and the neighbours.

How it works...
The Piano Silencer system has three main components: The sensors, the Mute Rail and the Control Module. The sensors are the Key Sensor Rail and the pedal sensors. The optical sensor is fitted underneath the keys and their movements are detected. It is 100% contactless so there is no friction and playability is not effected. The pedal sensors are microswitches and are connected to the pedal balance rods and tracking the pedal movements..
The next element is the Mute Rail. When the system is activated, the mute rail prevents the hammers from striking the strings.
The final stage is the Control Module.
It processes the signal given by the key sensor rail and the pedal sensors, then generates sound digitally.

Is the silent system made for upright or grand pianos?Most of the upright and grand pianos can be fitted with a silencer system. Please contact us for case-specific consulting.

Can the system also be fitted to 85-key piano?Yes, it is possible to retrofit silent system into an 85-key piano, provided there is a sufficient space under the keyblock to hide unneeded sensors. Please contact us for case-specific consulting.

We moved the piano and the silent system doesn't play as perfectly anymore.The system needs to be calibrated. You will find the instructions in the system user's guide.

Are these systems also make the piano a player piano?No, silent systems don't have the capability to actuate the keys and pedals to make your piano auto-play acoustically, however you can play demos and the pre-recorded playing back through a PA system. How long does it take to fit the system?Fitting silencer systems in most cases take one working day. In special cases it can be two days or more.
